I placed an order for a kitchen set for the holidays, and while it took a little longer than I thought, it wasn't an issue since it was for Christmas (and it's only November). Out of the blue, I received a call explaining the delay and checking if I needed it right away. I didn't need it in a hurry, but it was really nice to get that personal touch with a phone call, especially since they reached out without me even asking!

This store has a delightful selection of items at reasonable prices, but it falls short due to its lack of communication and slow delivery.

The website is plastered with messages like: "Want this by xx date? Order it in xx hours," and it mentions shipping times of 1 to 3 days. I placed an order for a wooden kitchen for my son's birthday well ahead of time. However, the day before his big day, my order still hadn’t shipped, so I reached out to customer service, but they didn’t bother to reply or even acknowledge my inquiry. The product eventually showed up a few days later (long after my son's birthday), and while I’m pleased with the item itself, it was frustrating to pay £3.95 for shipping on a £160 purchase and not have it arrive as promised, nor get any updates on the delay. Ignoring customer emails is just not cool, and because of this, I won’t be shopping at Bright New Things again.

I ordered a set of wooden binoculars online and was pretty disappointed with what I got, so I wanted to send it back. When I reached out to the seller, they informed me that I couldn't return it since the box had been opened, which meant it wasn't in a condition to be sold again. When you shop online, you base your choice on the description or pictures, and sometimes what arrives isn't what you thought you'd get. The box itself was fine; the only thing I damaged was a tiny bit of sealing tape to get it open, which is easy to fix. They claim these strict return policies are due to COVID-19, which seems a bit ridiculous. I mean, nowadays you can buy clothes online, try them on, and send them back, but you can't return a brand new toy that hasn't even been touched. So, before you place an order, make sure to check the return policy thoroughly. There are loads of other retailers out there that let you buy and return stuff without any fuss.
